What has been achieved
In a relatively short space of time the Archway Town Centre Management Group has grown to include approximately 35 members. Projects have been undertaken to tackle aspects of crime, improving the local environment and increasing the promotion for the area. Through the success of these activities the group has grown in reputation and it is now strong business voice which is consulted on the issues affecting Archway.
Some of the projects
delivered include:
- Publishing a local business directory which also advertised special shopping offers
- Developing a local arts programme with partners such as Byam Shaw School of Art such as the ‘Trip the Light Fantastic’ photo installations
- Launching the Archway Town Centre website
- Establishing new events in the area such as a Vintage Clothing Fair and a Winter Craft fair
- Providing businesses with networking opportunities whilst ensuring that they are aware of the services and initiatives available to support their business
- Anti begging / street drinking initiatives with the Pilion Trust and Safer Neighbourhood Team
- Working with Islington Council to reduce the visible impact of illegal ‘fly boarding’
- Introducing additional greenery to the town centre
- Successfully lobbying for free parking promotions in the town centre
